Marty Paradine comes to Fort St. John with extensive knowledge and passion for environmental sustainability. Marty first studied as a Mechanical Engineer and worked in the mining, oil and gas and pipelining industries in various locations internationally. His career shift towards sustainability began with a volunteer placement in Japan, centered on sustainable architecture and agriculture. He then completed a Renewable Energy degree in Olenburg, Germany, during which time he had the opportunity to complete his practicum as a guest researcher in Brazil and to write his thesis on sustainable refurbishment of domestic buildings at the Building Research Establishment in England. Currently, as Fort St. John's Community Energy Manager, it is Marty's mandate to create the foundation for a profound reduction in energy consumption and emissions community-wide, and initiate catalytic action towards transition to more sustainable energy systems.
